Historic Italianate-style house dating to 1860. The house was built by Colonel John Willis, a great-nephew of President James Madison. The property was occupied by the Army of Northern Virginia in the winter of 1863/1864 during the American Civil War. The house is now the Mayhurst Inn, a bed & breakfast, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
