527 6th Avenue (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas), 527

4-story Romanesque-revival mercantile building completed in 1896. Designed by Theo Thomson, it is clad in tan brick above a row of ground-floor storefronts. Narrow stone band courses connect the sills of each floor's windows. On the 14th Street facade, they alternate between square-headed and round-arched, except for the top floor, where all the windows are square-headed, but still alternate in size. On the 6th Avenue facade, there are two square-headed windows between each arched one, with an additional square-headed window at the far south bay. Again, on the top floor, the arched windows are replaced by larger square-headed ones. All of the windows have rough stone lintels that are connected at a lower level between each window.

The most notable feature of the building is the protruding rounded corner bay above the 2nd floor, topped by a conical turret. The roof line has a modillioned cornice with carved fascia board, that curves around the turret at the corner. The ground floor is occupied by NYC Candy, Jason & Co. Gold & Diamonds, Slice & Co. Brick Oven Pizza, Mikado sushi, and Pinkberry frozen yogurt.
