Chelsea Modern (New York City, New York)

120-foot, 12 story deconstructivist residential building completed in 2008. Designed by Audrey Matlock Architecture, the strikingly futuristic building features a zig-zagging, undulating deep blue and white glass facade. It has many windows that open by extending outwards parallel to the façade, letting air in and out on all four sides of the window when open. Each floor has three bands of windows, and the building’s rear has some balconies and terraces on the upper floors and is highlighted by horizontal “rain-screens.”

This building has won several design awards, including "Excellence in Architecture" from the American Institute of Architects and "Best High Rise in New York" from CNBC/New York Times.
