Samalil: A small lovely village located in the heart of Syria. It is some 20 km west north to Homs and is reachable via Homs-Mysiaf road. Some 1100 of the Sunni Turkmen inhabit the ancient village. Of the prominent family names are the following: Kakhia (The Kakhias make over %60 of the overall population, Masri, Kurdi, Othman, Sulaiman, Shaaban, and Karah Madi. Wheat, barely and corn are the main crops. However, vine, olive, and fig trees are abundant all over the village.
