5-story residential building originally completed in 1839 as a 4-story townhouse, and was a twin to No. 47 next door. Both have been substantially altered since. An additional floor was added in 1858, with a bracketed roof cornice. In the early 1900s, a basement entrance was remodeled and the ground floor smooth-stuccoed; the ground-level windows are segmental-arched, with iron bars. The upper floors are clad in red brick, with projecting windows sills and cornices.
