apartment building, 1860s construction, Second Empire (architecture)
3-story French Second Empire-style residential building completed in 1868 as a pair of townhouses. Designed by William Naugle, and built for Francis S. Smith and Garret Barmore. The joined facade is smooth-stuccoed above a rusticated basement, and has segmental-arched windows with a bracketed roof cornice. At No. 73, the stoop has been replaced by a basement entrance, and a triple bay window added in the English half-timbered medieval style.
