According to an Officer of the Egytian Border Guards who accompanied expeditions into the Libyan Desert, this area close to Peter and Paul Mountains is mine-infested with anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, laid by the Egytian army to prevent illigal passage from Libya and Sudan to the Nile valley. Unfortunately no more precise information was given and maybe, the area is wider than the polygraph describes (especially further south). So avoid the whole region close to Peter and Paul.
