The area north of Wadi Hamra and between Wadi Abdel Malik and the Great Sand Sea is called Abu Saad Plateau; very rocky and cut by many wadis, the former plateau in many parts is eroded and the valley are filled by sand from the Sand Sea. In some places in the valleys you may find remains of stone age settlements like mills, tools and special waisted stones, that were used to bind cattle or other lifestock (see photo).
