The Village Landmark

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / West 10th Street, 259-265
 condominium, Romanesque (architecture), 1892_construction

8-story Romanesque-revival residential building completed in 1892. Designed by Martin V.B. Ferdon as a warehouse, it is clad in red brick, with a paler shade on the upper floors than the ground level. The brick arches of the first floor serve, with one exception, as doorways at ground floor level. Above these, a horizontal rock-faced band course serves as an impost block for the arches which have concentric bands of brick dentils. The front wall rises sheer and plain with single window openings at even intervals. It is crowned by a shallow, corbeled brick cornice. The building was converted to condominiums in 1979.
