  • Looking for a web or other means of communication for stories from other employees about my father Orville Charles Altizer that use to work at Great Lakes Steel. He worked there a long time, mostly swing shifts. I don't know when he started but I was born in 1964 and he was working then. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Carol
  • Carol: Both my father (Charles Koopman, Jr.) and his father worked at Great Lakes Steel as well as my uncle (Glen Davis). Very familiar with their swing shifts. The head (Blane Rush) of the electricians at Great Lakes lived near us as well as his son (Blin Rush). Blin later opened his own electric company (Gale Electric) which at one time owned the Rostertail Night Club/Restaurant on the Detroit River). Blin's daughter Cathy later went on to become a lawyer. I was born in Riveside Hospital (Trenton) when my dad was out on strike at Great Lakes (1950). Would love to hear from any one who knew these people when they were at Great Lakes.
