The McLouth Steel Trenton Plant was an integrated mill that operated from 1949-1996 under the McLouth Steel name. After the 1996 bankruptcy the plant was sold to Detroit Steel Company (DSC Ltd.). The plant is currently idle and will likely be foreclosed on by Wayne County.

  • McLouth's hot mill was in Trenton, and the cold mil was in Gibraltar.
  • Supposedly, they are trying to restart the plant.
  • Type in "mclouth steel" into Wikipedia. There is a lot of info there.
  • We lost our jobs in March of 1996
  • WE WORKED HARD AT KEEPING THE OLD MILL RUNNING, EVEN TOOK PAY CUTS AS A SHARED EMPLOYEE OWN COMPANY TO KEEP EMPLOYED AND KEEP HISTORY ALIVE.
  • My Grandpa retired from there, my Dad worked there too. Still proud to be a United Steelworker local 2859 at Cadon in Wyandotte.
  • Do you know who to contact about the buyout pay off ? Thank you in advance SmP of Taylor
