apartment building, 1905_construction
5-story residential building completed in 1905. Designed by William H. Hume & Son as as store-and-loft building, it is faced in beige brick above the first-story storefront. At the ground floor with extensive modern infill, green-painted cast-iron pilasters with decorative panels and acanthus-leaf capitals flank the doorway and appear at the western end of the facade. Above this and below the 2nd floor is a wide plain metal cornice. The 2nd through the 5th floors each have four square-headed windows with stone sills.
At the 2nd floor, resting on a sill course, buff brick piers with stone bases and molded stone capitals separate the windows and flank the facade. Above the 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-floor windows, recessed brick spandrels appear. At the 3rd and 4th floors, giant order brick pilasters with stone bases and molded stone capitals flank the outer bays; brick piers separate the center bays at the 3rd and 4th floors. Stone courses cap the windows above the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors; that above the 3rd floor is broken by piers and pilasters. A plain parapet wall flanked by brick piers caps the facade.
The building was converted to apartments sometime in the late 1900s. The ground floor is occupied by Tend Dentist.
