Freedom Plaza. The floor of the plaza contains an inlay of the core portion of L'Enfant's plan for the federal city, which became Washington, D.C. The plaza is frequently a site for protests, political demonstrations and public events. Illegal skaters and skateboarders have damaged the plaza's inlay and steps.
