The Imambara owes it existence to Rajah Askari Hussain Sahab who built it in 19th century. The residential part (Badamakan) was completed by his son Raja Rahat Hussain Sahab in the early 20th century. The family was among the first Sayyid settlers in the town. The Imambara is highlight of the many ceremonies during Moharram. During the month, their descendants get together to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.). The tradition is pertinent with the other Sayyid families of the neighborhood- Syedwara.
