Panshet is a dam about 50 km southwest of the city of Pune in western India. It was constructed about 40 years back for irrigation and along with two other dams nearby (including Khadakwasla), it supplies drinking water to the city of Pune.

The dam wall burst in the first year of storing water. This famous disaster occured on 2 July 1961 and had caused huge floods in the valley, breach of Khadakwasla dam downstream and tremendous damage in Pune City, on the banks of the Mutha river. The Government reconstructed the dam later.

Panshet is one of the popular places near Pune for picnic lovers. Now a days, Panshet is popular because of Water sports here, that includes Speed Boats and Water Scooters etc . One can have a nice road to Panshet surrounded by dark green woods.Pan shet DAM!!!!!!!!!!!
