Look around. REALLY look! This is how the ENTIRE 47 square mile Panshet Dam Catchment USED to look many years before the dam was built and the traditional ways of life were disrupted! This sacred grove, while not the largest,(perimeter walk: 2 km) is by far the healthiest of the 17 areas in this catchment designated as sacred groves. These days, most of the catchment is being so severely degraded by over-grazing and fuel wood collection (including many squares miles designated as "Reserved Forest") that it is essentially wasteland. This means it no longer provides nature's primary services (pollination, water retention for later use to name just a few). Fodder and fuel-wood removal has caused such severe erosion that bare rock is exposed in areas with very slight slopes!
