Lalguan Mahadev Temple in Khajuraho, is situated 803 m west of the Chausath-yogini temple, both built during the period of the Chandela king Harshadeva (A D 900-925). The temple is between the Kandariya Mahadeva and Devi Jagdamba temples. Granite has been used for the construction of this temple, which is built on the bank of an old lake called Lalguan-sagar.

Lalguan Mahadev Temple contains the famous half- lion, half-human Sardula figure.This temple shares the plan and design with the Brahma temple. It is a structure of modest size and design roofed by a dilapidated pyramidal superstructure of receding tiers of Peethas. Its entrance-porch has completely disappeared and the doorway is plain but for a diamond carved on the door-sill.
