 office building, sewing

153-foot, 12-story office building with ornate green wrought iron and red terra-cotta decorations, completed in 1904. Designed by Ernest Flagg for the Singer company which was a maker of sewing machines. The building was sometimes known as the "Little Singer Building", since Flagg had also designed the Singer Building at Broadway & Liberty Street - which was then the tallest building in the world (now destroyed).

The building is L-shaped, with a slightly wider facade on Broadway. Both facades have a 2-story green cast-iron base, with a large wrought-iron decorated arch across the 2nd floor. Above, there are red terra-cotta spandrels between the floor, and panels on the outer piers. The windows are recessed, with green wrought-iron balconies in front. There is another large wrought-iron arch spanning the top floor. On the wider Broadway facade, the outer bays are also decorated with square terra-cotta panels featuring carvings of lions' heads, torches and wreaths. The ground floor is currently occupied by Mango, a Spanish clothing brand.
