condominium, apartment building
7-story modernist residential and commercial building completed in 2016. Designed by Currimbhoy & Co. and Gruzen Samton Architects, it replaces the 1824 townhouse once owned by Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz, and a 2-story taxpayer from 1921. The new building has two floors for retail and an ambulatory care facility, all topped by five tiered floors of residential condos. It is faced in pre-cast concrete married with hand-carved stone screens in organic tree-of-life patterns. There is a setback above the 2nd floor on the Spring Street side, and another setback for the top two floors on the Thompson Street side.
