INTER_IAM Art Experience

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Broadway, 415
interesting place, Art Deco (architecture), historical building

2-story Art-Deco bank building completed in 1927. Designed by Walker & Gillette as the Canal Street Branch of the National City Bank of New York. In the 1980 and '90s, it was occupied by Citibank. It housed a variety of ground-level retail outlets, with a Payless Shoe Source above and a Duane Reade below which have since moved out. Clad in limestone, it has a very tall ground floor with large windows that used to serve as the banking hall which has regrettably been gutted from alterations by Joseph Pell Lombardi for United American Land. The fixtures are now in the New York Law School library.

It was set to become an Italian-style food hall called Mercato Fabbrica in late 2020 but now an art experience.
