Pearline Soap Factory Lofts

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Washington Street, 414
 condominium  Add category

9-story residential building completed in 2007. Designed by Joseph Pell Lombardi and Karl Fischer, the project is named after a soap factory that occupied the site in the 1800s. It is clad in red brick, and designed to harmonize with the older industrial buildings in the area. The Laight Street facade has two double bays in the center, with a single bay on either side. The narrower Washington Street facade has one double bay in the center, with single bays on either side. Each bay has a large, multi-paned square-headed window on the ground floor (two in the double bays), and segmental-arched windows at the upper floors. The bay are slightly recessed and terminate in segmental-arches at the 6th floor. The top floors has smaller round-arched windows. All the windows have stone sills and brick headers. Both facades are topped by a brick parapet and black metal roof cornice. Suspended metal awnings cover the bays at the ground floor nearest the southeast corner. Two set-back penthouse levels rise above the roof cornice.

Justin Timberlake bought a full-floor condominium here in 2008, but sold it in 2011, when he moved to SoHo Mews. A sister building, The Fairchild, is across the street at 415 Washington.
