The South-East Gate –Steppe Gate – is the least preserved: the walls were nearly all pillaged, but is quite likely that it was also the least monumental of the four, as it led towards a direction not basic for the commercial and political life of the urban centre, but rather functional for the relations with the semi-nomadic tribes of shepherds mainly living in the easternmost steppe regions.
