Sarai Mir is one of the prominent towns in Azamgarh District, situated midway between Phulpur and Phariha. It is located 25 km from the district headquarters of Azamgarh and 80 km from Varanasi. Phulpur is 9 km west of it and Nizamabad is 12 km away.
Durvasa, a pilgrim spot famous for the ashram of Durvasas, can be accessed from here via Phulpur.

Sarai Mir Railway Station is on the Ballia-Shahganj meter gauge section of North Eastern Railways. Nearest airport is Varanasi Airport.
