Maltese Consulate & UN Mission

USA / New Jersey / West New York / East 35th Street, 249
consulate / consular section / consul residence, diplomatic / foreign mission / representation

4-story diplomatic mission originally completed as a 3-story (plus raised basement) townhouse sometime around the 1860s. It is now faced in white smooth-stucco above a ground floor of red brick. The stoop has long since been replaced by a ground-level entrance on the left, with a slightly-recessed paneled wooden door in a grey stone surround. To the right is a triple-window with vents below it, and the ground floor is topped by a black metal band.

The upper floors have three bays of single-windows, with air-conditioning units below the middle ones. The 2nd floor also has a white metal railing across it. The facade is capped by a simple metal coping. The building is now occupied by the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations.
