Rhodope Crystal Museum

 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria, mineralogy museum

The museum was opened in 1957. It tells the story of mining in the Madan region. Unique of its kind is the Rhodope Crystal Hall - a member of the International Association of Mineralogical Museums, which has a collection of 581 mineral samples. According to the cooperation between the Municipality of Madan and the Association "Children with Special Needs", as well as by a decision of the local parliament, the exhibits from the Mining and Mining Museum were moved to the Tourist Information Center in the town. The crystal collection is the biggest landmark of the small Rhodope town. It is the subject of tourist visits for educational and recreational purposes. In Madan the local municipality also maintains the Sharenka cave museum.
