15-story mid-century modern residential building completed in 1977. Designed by Herbert L. Mandel, the building is L-shaped, wrapping around a courtyard where the main entrance is located. The facades are clad in reddish-brown brick and concrete.
The narrow south wing that extends to 55th Street has six bays of triple-windows on its south facade, the middle ones projecting out, divided by narrow, vertical concrete strips. The middle pane of each window group is shorter, with the end windows extending farther down. At the 2nd floor there are short, high-set triple-windows in every bay, and the ground floor has similar openings, covered by metal screens, with a steel-and-glass door and sidelights at an entrance to the management office in the west bay. There are concrete floorplates between each floor.
The south-facing facade of the north wing on 56th Street has three wide bays recessed behind concrete balconies with metal railings. Between the western two, and to the east, are bays of triple-windows like those on the south facade of the south wing. At the west end is a bay of blank concrete, and at the east end is a recessed brick bay at the junction with the other south wing; this bay has one regular single-window with a band of short, high-set panes to the right. These short, high-set windows continue on the north bay of the south wing's west facade. The south end of this facade projects out with a bay of projecting balconies, a recessed bay of single-windows, and a projecting end bay of blank concrete. The courtyard is accessed by a series of ramps and steps.
The east facade's south end mirror the west facade, but with another bay of balconies to the north, and then several bays of the same style of triple-windows, the northernmost ones projecting slightly out. The north facade on 56th Street has a projecting concrete bay on each end. Next to the west one is a less-projecting bay with balconies, and in between are two wide, recessed bays of balconies, with brick sections separating them from the other bays; these brick sections have more triple-windows. The ground floor has a couple of secondary entrances, as well as service doors and a few high-set windows.
The west facade of the north wing has two projecting bays of triple-windows in the middle, and two matching outer bays on either side.
The building contains 182 apartment units.
