office building, high-rise, 1953_construction, International style architecture

299-foot, 21-story International-style office building completed in 1953. Designed by Sylvan Bien, it spans the whole blockfront along Madison Avenue. The cladding is similar to 261 Madison Avenue, across the street, also designed by Bien. It consists of light-grey brick with ribbon bands of windows on the north and south facades, and a curtain wall on the east facade, with grey metal spandrels and thin vertical aluminum elements running up the facade and dividing each window.

The ground floor is clad in grey granite, with plate-glass storefronts. The main entrance, at the center of the east facade, and the storefront on either side is clad in red granite. The entrance bay, with glass revolving doors, is recessed, and the flanking storefronts are angled back toward it. Mounted on the granite above the entry is the number 260 in metal numerals, and a pair of projecting flagpoles. There are nine bays along the avenue, and six along the north and south facades. The western two bays on the south facade have an entrance and exit to the underground parking garage.

There are setbacks on the north, east, and south sides above the 9th, 13th, and 17th floors. Three tall, light-grey brick mechanical penthouses project up from the rooftop. The upper part of the west facade, above the lower neighboring buildings, has a similar facade to the north and south sides, but without setbacks. A large metal pipe runs up the middle of the facade and extends above the roof line.

The ground floor is occupied by a Chase Bank branch, Omar's restaurant, and Alidoro restaurant. In 2022, MGM+ Studios became a tenant of the building.
