NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, apartment complex, International style architecture, 1930s construction, New Deal Depression Relief Project [1933-1945]

Historic apartment buildings built between 1935 and 1938. They were the first federally-funded housing projects built in the District of Columbia and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Langston Terrace Dwellings". The development was constructed with assistance from the Public Works Administration (PWA), a New Deal program that operated during the Great Depression between 1933 and 1944. The program provided funds to private contractors to build large-scale projects proposed by states as a means of economic stimulus.
