Yes, it sounds odd.. but this cemetery is the biggest and most active Dog Park in the District. At any time of day, between 50 and 100 dogs can be found off-leash at the Congressional Cemetery. Why? A local citizens group started using this as a dog park in order to deter the crime (drug sales) that were going on in the cemetery. Now, there is constant activity and a great place to take your dog.

The cemetery was established in 1807 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
