Historic golf course opened in 1939. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. The course was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA). These were both New Deal programs that provided work for unemployed men who were struggling to find work during the Great Depression.
