The distinct hexagonal sign and stucco roof are a giveaway that this was originally Safeway (and then later AppleTree, from 1989 to closure in very early 1994). It was sold to and reopened as a Kroger in the wake of AppleTree's death, which then closed in 2005. The space was occupied by a few fly-by-night furniture outlets since Kroger vacated, but in summer 2012, the long-vacant space was reopened as an indoor track racing facility.
