Estate home designed c. 1910 by James W. O'Connor in the Neo-Federal style on originally 210 acres of land for Joseph Peter Grace, Sr {attorney, industrialist}. Grace served as an attorney and president of W. R. Grace & Co. shipping and chemical concern. His father, W. R. Grace founded the company in 1854 and lived in "Gracefield" in Great Neck. His sister lived as "Llangollen Farm" in Kings Point and "Gilchrist" in North Hills". His son, Joseph Peter Grace, II lived at "Gracewood" nearby in North Hills.

Grace commissioned alterations by Horace Trumbauer in 1917 and formal landscaping by Arthur A. Shurcliff and Olmsted (1923). Plantings were provided by Lewis & Valentine. After Grace Sr. passed in 1950, the Deepdale Golf Club purchased the 176-acre estate in 1954. Additional modern landscaping work was done by Innocenti & Webel. The mansion is now adaptively reused along with its outbuildings.
