USA / New Jersey / West New York / East 29th Street, 234
 fire service  Add category

2-story contemporary fire station completed in 1968. Designed by Raphael H. Courland, the building is clad in light-grey brick. Engine 16 and Ladder 7 were both organized in 1865, the former on East 25th Street and the latter on East 28th. Since 1968, the two have resided together in this double firehouse on East 29th.

Near the east end is a slightly-projecting section clad in white stone that extends above the main roof line. At the ground floor it has a tripartite window in red metal framing that is cut back toward the main facade, with a grid of bronze plaques above it. Directly to the right is a red metal door, and then the large, bright-red garage door. At the 2nd floor, above the garage door, is a wide window band composed of five sections of four short, stacked panes, also in red framing. A flagpole projects from the base of the 2nd floor near the west end. The roof line is marked by metal flashing.
