496-foot, 43-story modernist residential building completed in 2008. Designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners, it is clad in grey aluminum and silver glass, and is notable for its reflective-glass façades with “abs,” a distinctive way of adding a few balconies in the middle of the tower.
The tower is set back on a 4-story base. The ground floor along 46th Street is recessed, with five round stainless-steel columns supporting the floors above. The main entrance is near the east end, with a glass wall, and a metal canopy over the doors, suspended from the roof above. To the east is a 1-story extension clad in dark-grey metal panels, with a service entrance and the entrance/exit to an underground parking garage. To the west are plate-glass storefronts. The ground floor along the avenue is also lined with storefronts.
The 2nd-4th floors of the base are clad in dark-grey panels, except for at the north end, where there is a curtain wall of opaque light-green glass with thin silver metal framing, and at the east half of the south facade, where the cladding is the same lighter-colored aluminum as the tower. The window pattern on the base is also different from the dark-grey to light-grey sections.
The upper floors are clad in a glass and aluminum curtain wall on the south and north facades; there is also a central section of beige pre-cast concrete running up the north facade, where the core is located, but the floor plates are also expressed across this section; the glass on the north facade is slightly darker-tinted than the south. The west facade facing the avenue is split into north and south halves, with the south half set farther back and matching the curtain wall of the south facade. The north half has slightly darker-tinted glass. At the 31st-34th floors, there are four horizontal metal ribs or abs in the center, linking the two sections. The protruding north half sets backs just above these ribs. On the east facade, the north half has the darker-tinted glass, and the south has the lighter glass.
Closer to the top there is a small setback on the north facade above the 35th floor; the concrete band ends here as well. There is another setback at the crown at the west and south sides above the 41st floor. The 43rd floor is topped by a 2-story grey aluminum mechanical screen.
The building contains 220 condominium units. The ground floor is occupied by a Pret-A-Manger restaurant, Dunkin' Donuts, I (Heart) NY Gifts, and Phantom of Broadway gift shop.
