This building was originally built as the Wimbledon Public School in 1928, replacing the two-story, wooden structure that burned the same year. In 1981, the Wimbledon Public School District and the Courtenay Public School District merged, and the school was renamed Wimbledon-Courtenay Public School. In 2007, Wimbledon-Courtenay Public School, North Central of Barnes Public School, and Spiritwood Public School merged to become the Barnes County North School District. This building then became known as the Barnes County North (Wimbledon-Courtenay Campus) or Barnes County North West Campus until 2012, and Barnes County North High School when it housed grades 6-12 until 2013, when it was closed when a new centralized location was constructed near Leal. Within a few years, the building had been converted into an apartment building, named the Wimbledon Apartments.
