No longer open to the public. North and South Table Mountains are remnants of the last volcanic activity along this part of the Rocky Mountain Front. At one time, tram railways took passengers to the top of both mesas. South Table Mountain played host to Ku Klux Klan rallies during the 1920s. The volcanic rocks of North Table Mountain contain rich ore deposits of rare earth elements.
