Estate home designed c. 1934 in the Federal style by William Platt and constructed by E.W. Howell Co. on originally 19 acres of land for John Teele Pratt, Jr {industrialist, capitalist, financier}. Pratt served as vice president of Chromium Corp. of America, United Chromium, and Chemical Treatment Co., partner of the Post & Flagg and Harris, Charles Pratt & Co. and Upham & Co. stock brokerage firms, and director of Birmingham Realty Co. and Transcom Electronics. He also served as a trustee of Pratt Institute, Huntington Library of California, and the Museum of the American Indian.

In the early 1960's, the estate was purchased by Keith Sutton and was later used by the Russian Orthodox Church of the Ascension. It is now back in private ownership, renamed "Beechwood Manor".
