"Seamoor" Outbuilding Ruins (Glen Cove, New York)

USA / New York / Glen Cove / Glen Cove, New York
LIGC - Long Island Gold Coast, historic remains

Possibly outbuilding remains from Charles Millard Pratt's mansion 'Seamoor', demolished in 1969. According to a map of Glen Cove from 1914, this part of the Pratt property was deeded to Charles M. Pratt. Given his house had to sit somewhere on this site, and was torn down 40 years ago, it only makes sense to assume these ruins had something to do with Seamoor.

  • I could be wrong, but I think the ruins you visited were north of Welwyn. The preserve doesn't go over this far. The area marked was part of the Babbott estate(Pratt), now developed for private homes.
  • I was there this morning. It is part of Welwyn and remains undeveloped
  • I agree, it is within the preserve boundaries
  • I think the house that was demolished in 1969 belonged to Charles M. Pratt Jr. and was located off Forest Ave. where Gribbon School now stands. If I remember right Seamoor burned about 1948 and was located north of Killenworth.
  • how do u get to it?
  • You enter by the back. You walk the trail from the cul de sac and when it veers hard right, you go off, into the woods.
