In the time of 'the union of the villages and villagers', the region called "Ĥala". After the Çamlıhemşin Municipality was established in 1955 the union broke down and the villages were named one by one. The villagers living there today use the name "Ĥala" spontaneously, but this is not mentioned in the state records.
