Jain Temple (Marakkonam)

This village has an old Jain Temple. Heard that a lady donated 20 cent land to this temple, but irony is the local panchayat administration which has to save the monument, encroached the land and built water tank, office of VAO and women self helping group office. old inscriptions were seen on the temple wall. During the foundation work of water tank an idol of Jain Theerthankara found and it is learnt that some more idols are under the earth. It seems the temple should be atleast 800 years old. Dr. Jain
