Eyyil is a village well connected with all important places.Northern and eastern parts are fringed with huge stone boulders. on the south side of the Melsevalambadi road in Eyyil village a late Pallava Durga is seen carved as a relief work on a stone slab. West of this art object two idols of Ganesa and three stone slabs with carving of yantras are erected on the side of the above road. From here we may go to north to reach a Arugar temple of Jain sect.In the north East direction of the village a small hillock is seen. On the top of this a Siva temple of late Chola period is shines with new renovation.It has inscriptions on its base and walls.On the plains east of the Siva temple a Saptamatrika shrine faces north. Eastern side of this temple a temple tank was made to store rain water.Therefore, Eyyil is an ancient place with antiquities.M.GANDHI.
