When the Student Union opened its doors in August 1950, it featured lounges, dance rooms, snack bars, gift shops, game rooms and even a bowling alley throughout the $4.5 million dollar building. Today, after many additions and renovations the storied building continues to serve its constituents well. The Union is dedicated to Oklahoma State University and its land-grant mission of teaching, research and outreach. Within its walls, the Union provides the opportunity for a creative and innovative learning environment through its educational, cultural, social, recreational and service activities. In addition, the Union provides facilities, services and conveniences for the diverse needs and activities of the campus community and has created a sense of community that fosters loyal and true Oklahoma State alumni.
