The original “Meera Inn” was first opened on 4th June 1983 by owner Mr. Rajendra Prasad Gupta with five rooms. At that time Kanpur was growing its foothold as one of India’s largest industrial cities with businessmen from all over the country coming for its leather goods, small arms, textile mills and other industrial products. There was a need for comfortable accommodation at reasonable prices.

The hotel with its prime position at Mall Road, right in the midst of the major banks like the Reserve Bank of India, Standard Charted Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and ANZ Grindlays was an instant hit. The number of rooms grew rapidly from five rooms at the time of the opening to almost a hundred in the late 1990s. Some of these banks have changed over the years with new ones opening in the last few years like ICICI, HDFC, AXIS, Kotak Mahindra and ING Vaishya amongst others. Similarly the hotel has changed and evolved with time as well.

The hotel has changed names and re-branded itself as “Hotel Meera Inn Deluxe” when it reopened on 5th February 2004 after internal restructure and renovations.

It is still very much a family owned business with Mr. Rajendra Prasad Gupta working day in and day out to provide the guests at the hotel with exceptional service and accommodation still at the most reasonable prices in the city.
