Located in northern Lithuania, borders with Latvia, covers area of 1316 km². Divided into 8 elderships. Administrative centre - Pakruojis, smaller city is Linkuva.
Ascribabled to Semigalia (Žiemgala) ethnographic region, Linkuva is one of oldest setlements in it. Municipality lies in Mūša-Nemunėlis lowlands. The longest rivers are Kruoja and Mūša. Described as agriculture country, deer brewer traditions remained. Known for dolomite quarries, biggest of them are in Klovainiai and Petrašiūnai. Pakruojis manor brigde is unique because it is built from dolomite, it is reresented in Pakruojis coats of arms.
