The overgrown site of the ruined fortress of Rakovica is located on a wooded ridge west of modern Goljamo Belovo. The fortress walls are not preserved beyond the foundations. Surface remains include building stones and medieval ceramics. The site was approached along the top of the ridge from the southwest. Conquered by the Ottoman Turks in 1378, despite determined resistance.
