Vasur is located in the junction of roads of Chengam and polur &Tiruvannamalai.Four inscriptions are recorded here.The earliest was the Kannaradeva's dated 953AD.There was a village sabhai.Village was called at that time as VASUGUR, in VASUGUR NADU,a sub division of PALKUNRA KKOTTAM. Other three inscriptions are of Rajaraja I's period; register denotions from Urrukkattukottam, Vesalippadi ie.,now Puduchcherry territory and Valaippandal east of Arni town. The temple might be Durga. From the lithic records the temple maight be famous. There is one damaged temple in the village -M.GANDHI.
