The M Streets Conservation District (www.mstreetscd.org/) encompasses the Greenland Hills Neighborhood (www.mstreets.org) which was built in the 1920s. The Conservation District was approved in 2002.
The majority of homes in the neighborhood (~920 houses) were built in the Tudor Revival style. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, several of the original homes were demolished and modern suburban homes began to take their place. Luckily, the Conservation District has put a stop to this practice. New construction is allowed, but it must match the style of the original homes.
An average-sized original home (around 1500sf) sells in 2006 for around 250K to 350K, and newer construction can cost up to 750K for a 3,500sf home.
