Part of the Cima Volcanic Field, a collection of about 40 volcanic cones that is designated a U.S. National Natural Landmark. Cima Dome is one of these cones, a geologic feature located close to the town of Cima. The dome is so huge it is not readily apparent when viewed from the Kelso-Cima roadway but if you zoom out in Satellite view, the dome becomes apparent.

Mojave National Preserve
It is now illegal to visit Cima Dome (unless you can hike long distances in the desert). Cima Dome and the surrounding area have been declared a Wilderness, where vehicular access on the existing roads is now prohibited.
