This two-story house was the one-time home of Frank 'Spig' Wead. He was an early proponent of naval aviation, and went on to a noteworthy career in Hollywood as a writer. The house is the location where he fell and broke his neck, effectively ending his navy career. His story is told in the movie "The Wings of Eagles", where he was portrayed by John Wayne.
