This is the central part of Kaunas city, also belonging to Centro eldership. It's name means "the new city", as opposed to "the old city" Senamiestis to the west. City municipality, Vytautas statue, many different churches, city garden and other parks, multiple theaters, banks, bars, shops make Naujamiestis the most attractive, interesting and important part of the city. Also at the southern end of it there is a bus station and the main railway station, from where trains and buses depart to all corners of Lithuania and beyond, as well as the biggest shopping mall in Kaunas, "Akropolis".
